With the cold comes the harsh reminder that windows are still drafty and doors may not keep out as much of the wind as we thought they did. Windows and doors can provide our homes with a great amount of character, however inefficient windows can also account for up to 25% of your energy bill by letting heat escape. In January of 2013, as an incentive to help lower homeowner energy costs and to help make homes more efficient Congress passed the American Taxpayer Relief Act, reinstating the energy efficiency tax credit for windows and doors. Even with some uncertainty looming in Washington, we know that there is still an opportunity to take advantage of the tax credit savings in 2013. For some of the highlights please visit Marvin's Tax Credit section on their website.
As always, our focus is quality and customer service and this is one of the many ways we can help homeowners in Portland take advantage of a program that will save them money, and help them avoid bundling up all winter because of drafty windows!
